This is a regular public jam devoted to swing and jazz style music (classic swing, gypsy jazz, western swing, etc.) If you're a player interested in learning and playing this kind of music with other players, visit and join our yahoo group for information, songs, charts, and more. This is an acoustic circle-style jam, but discreet amplifiers, electric keyboards, etc. are welcome as well as drums. We create music in shared acoustic space - players are expected to have ears.

Play parties are a traditional form of entertainment for children. Before the adults would have a dance in pioneer times, the children would get together with a leader to share songs and dances they all knew. Children still love to sing and dance, and I will be sharing the old songs with them in my new, historically researched and authentically presented show, Gather 'Round Children: America's Folk Song Heritage.
Visit my Gather 'Round Children: America's Folk Song Heritage website for more details about the show, a song list, my children's music professional biography, and information about how my show supports Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). I will also post upcoming public performances here. |

Jamming Around Dallas / Fort Worth:
Sunday Afternoons: Charlie's Acoustic Jam
http://www.tinkersjam.com
Charli's Jam is my home jam - it's been going on for nearly 30 years. Musicians meet and play informally on Sunday afternoons, from 3:00 until 6:00 or 7:00. The Jam has always been public; now it's hosted by Smoke at the Belmont Hotel, . Charli's jam has a core of musicians, including the inimitable Charli Alexander. The jam is open, though, and there are always new people. Folks come bringing many levels of musicianship (we're all on the curve) and many styles, though it's always an acoustic jam. We're all there to have fun and we're all music lovers and listeners first.

Thursday Nights: Sons of Hermann Hall, Elm Street, Dallas www.sonsofhermann.com
Original Texas Music is constantly bubbling out of this historic Deep Ellum establishment. Tom Peal and I, along with many friends,
may be found there almost any Thursday night at Ranger Randell's Acoustic Campfire Jam. The Son's is a old Texas German fraternal
organization, and Dallas' chapter has an especially wonderful hall and bar. Musicians gather by the dozens to play
original and other great songs - expect variety, chaos and harmony. Bring your axe.
