Miss Jenni's Pioneer Play Party

Miss Jenni with a lot of enthusiastic listeners and players at Dallas Historical Village (Old City Park.) Photo by Tom Peal.

Miss Jenni at the Rancho Frijole Quest for Harmony Gathering |
Play parties are a traditional form of entertainment for children. Before the adults would have a dance in pioneer times, the children would get together with a leader to share songs and dances they all knew. Children still love to sing and dance, and I will be sharing the old songs with them in my new, historically researched and authentically presented show, Miss Jenni's Pioneer Play Party.
Visit my Miss Jenni's Pioneer Play Party website for more details about the show, a song list, my children's music professional biography, and information about how my show supports Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). I will also post upcoming public performances here. |
October 25, 2008: Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts, Arlington, Texas
Show begins at 5:30. Levitt Pavilion is located in the Founders Square in downtown Arlington.
Levitt Pavilion will open this fall and feature the best in local and touring entertainment including latin, r&b, classical, jazz and alternative. Saturdays are family days, and that's where Miss Jenni comes in!
Join me for a fun-filled hour of traditional children's folk songs and dances in this exciting new venue. Please check back for cost information.

I joined Dr. Gustavo Tolosa and Musical Angels, an non-profit organization that brings music to hospitalized children and provides scholarships for piano lessons, at this free family musical event. There was an "instrument petting zoo" where I displayed and let kids play my mountain dulcimer. More info at www.Born4Piano.com. |

Regular Informal Appearances
Sunday Afternoons: Charlie's Acoustic Jam
http://www.tinkersjam.com
Charli's Jam is my home jam. Musicians meet and play informally on Sunday afternoons, from 3:00 until 6:00 or 7:00. The Jam has always been public; now it's hosted by Dallas' Eagles Club. Charli's jam is a core of musicians, including the inimitable Charli Alexander, and I've played with some of them for fifteen years or more. The jam is open, though, and there are always new people. Folks come bringing many levels of musicianship (we're all on the curve) and many styles, though it's always an acoustic jam. We're all there to have fun and we're all music lovers and listeners first.
The Eagles Club is located at 8500 Arturo Dr. near White Rock Lake in Dallas, TX. Take Garland Rd. to Lakeland Dr. (near the Dallas Arboretum). Turn at the traffic light onto Lakeland (east). Cross over the RR tracks & take the first right. Arturo leads right into the Eagles parking area.
Thursday Nights: Sons of Hermann Hall, Elm Street, Dallas www.sonsofhermann.com
Original Texas Music is constantly bubbling out of this historic Deep Ellum establishment. I and my beloved, along with many friends,
may be found there almost any Thursday night at Ranger Randell's Acoustic Campfire Jam. The Son's is a old Texas German fraternal
organization, and Dallas' chapter has an especially wonderful hall and bar. Musicians gather by the dozens to play
original and other great songs - expect variety, chaos and harmony. Bring your axe.
